Global origins

People in ancient China and other civilizations have been obsessed with this stone for a long time, and it has left a lasting impact on culture. The origins of jade can be traced back to ancient China, where it was prized above gold. The Chinese linked jade with virtue, purity, and immortality.

Only high-ranking members of society like Emperors would adorn themselves with jade ornaments, believing they would bring good fortune and protection from harm. Jade also symbolized power and authority, used for ceremonial objects and intricate decorations.

In Central America, jade held sacred importance in the Mayan and Aztec civilizations, much like its significance in China. To the Mayans and Aztecs, jade represented the gods and played a vital role in religious rites. The Mayans especially displayed their reverence for jade by crafting intricate masks and jewelry from the gemstone, demonstrating both their advanced artistry and their belief in jade's link to the divine.

A timeless significance

Jade gained symbolic meaning as it spread along the Silk Road and was traded between cultures. Originally a Chinese symbol of wealth and prosperity, the gemstone was given a new significance in each society it reached. For example, the Persians believed jade could cure bodily diseases, while ancient Egyptians linked it to heart health and immortality.

Jade continues to captivate people worldwide today, just as it did in ancient times. Its alluring green hues and distinctive translucence make jade a coveted gem for jewelry. Jade has a really interesting history, and it's clear why it's been so popular for so long. Moreover, many still believe jade has healing properties, frequently utilizing it in alternative medicine practices.
